Image Design Technology Launches Groundbreaking "AOV+AI" Fusion Arch

Recently, Image Design Technology launched the new Hilight series 8MP image sensor MIS80W1. d on the company's proprietary "BSI+™" technology platform and "ApexPixel®" pixel technology, it incorporates fully independent core technologies including AI system architecture, FDTI™, ImgAOV™, and PixHDR™. The sensor delivers superior performance with low power consumption, high dynamic range, and all-scenario capabilities, meeting demanding requirements in smart security, automotive, and consumer electronics applications.

01

Low power consumption and high efficiency

The MIS80W1 incorporates innovative AOV (Always-On Vision) technology, achieving ultra-low power operation through intelligent event triggering and low--rate wake-up mechanisms. In rapid-start scenarios, the main control chip (SoC) can be awakened by external events (such as PIR signals) while filtering false alarms to extend battery life. In low--rate timed wake-up scenarios, the image sensor (CIS) maintains ultra-low power consumption (<20 mW / <4 mW) through intelligent rate adjustment (e.g., 1 fps or 1 per 10 seconds), minimizing event omissions. This feature significantly reduces device dependence on power grids, saves wiring costs, and is particularly suitable for long-term monitoring needs in environments without network or electricity access.

02

On-device intelligent analytics capability

The MIS80W1 features 200 GOPS of neural network computing power, enabling rapid processing of large-scale image data to provide robust support for various intelligent analysis tasks. Its low-power intelligent two-stage wake-up mode includes primary wake-up (LP1) and secondary wake-up (LP2). In LP1 mode, motion detection algorithms sense movement while filtering interference from light changes and minor motions. LP2 mode utilizes built-in AI to identify whether moving s are human-shaped, vehicle-shaped, or user-defined s. The ded AI also supports custom detection in Normal mode. In human detection scenarios, it achieves a resolution of 640×352 with accuracy up to 97% and recall rate of 83%. For vehicle detection in various scenarios such as parking lots, roadsides, courtyards, and streets, evaluation results on raw samples show a precision rate of 95.35%, recall rate of 92.50%, with false alarm and missed detection rates as low as 4.50% and 7.50% respectively. Additionally, the MIS80W1 provides a custom model training package, supporting personalized scenario training to meet diverse user requirements in specific applications.

03

All-scenario high dynamic range imaging

The MIS80W1 supports Staggered Exposure - 2 HDR mode, achieving a dynamic range of 77.4 dB (single ) / >100 dB (2- HDR fusion). At 520 nm wavelength, its quantum efficiency (QE) reaches 75%, while maintaining 35% at 850 nm wavelength. Additionally, its Pre-ISP supports multiple image processing functions including Fast AE/Fast AWB/AEC/AGC/BLC/DPC, ensuring clear, detailed, and high color-fidelity imaging across various lighting conditions - whether capturing indoor still s or low-light nighttime scenes.

MIS80W1

Industry-standard products with equivalent specifications

Under standard 285 lux indoor lighting conditions for static s, the MIS80W1 delivers slightly better color performance than industry counterparts with equivalent specifications, while maintaining comparable sharpness and noise levels. This meets diverse application requirements for image quality.

Industry-standard products with equivalent specifications

Under 0.5 lux low-light conditions for indoor still s, the MIS80W1 demonstrates marginally better color performance than industry-equivalent products while delivering comparable sharpness and detail preservation. It effectively enhances image brightness while maintaining low noise levels, meeting demanding imaging requirements in challenging environments.

AOV Event Trigger - Human Detection

In AOV mode, the system maintains low-power operation at 1 fps. When a predefined target event (e.g., a human entering the monitoring zone) is triggered, it instantly switches to full-function mode and increases to the standard rate (15fps*). If non-target motion is detected, the system continues operating at 1 fps for sustained power efficiency.
